Las Vegas, NV

The Sunrise Shoot Out was a major highlight to my Vegas, WPPI trip! I was so excited to finally meet Justin & Mary Marantz and attend their Sunrise Shoot Out this year at WPPI in Las Vegas, NV.  I didn’t know what to expect since this was my first time attending a shoot out type workshop. I have to say I left with more admiration for the two of them than even what I already came with.  J&M were very giving with their time, taking the time to speak with each of us individually.  Justin shared his lighting set-up and Mary worked with us on how to direct/pose a couple in a professional way.  Even though I feel like an experienced pro.. I feel there is always something to learn from our peers and I sure wish they were around doing workshops when I first started as a wedding photographer. J&M are excellent at their craft and they have a way of teaching/speaking that is easy to relate to and heartfelt.  I was also glad to know that the more than reasonable fee for the workshop went to such a great cause. Check out more on their Blog.  Finally, I we had a fun time photographing the  gorgeous couple ” Elizabeth & Ryan “  Elizabeth was decked out from head to toe in a beautiful couture gown by Chaviano Couture and Ryan looked Dapper in his Tux!  these two were so photogenic in front of the camera.  I’m so thankful for this opportunity and hope to go to on of J&M’s full workshops soon.

I’m so excited to finally share Kristin & Kenneth’s beautiful wedding day on my blog.  Just a little update, I’m a bit behind on my posts due to a little technology failure with my mac (computer), thankfully the good peeps at Apple were able to finally fix my baby and I’m back up and running.  I will be working long hours to get caught up on everything, but enough of that already.. I hope you enjoy some of the images that I fell in Love with from this beautiful wedding.  The reception just happened to be at one of my favorite venues THE WESTIN HOTEL

I love how beautiful the room is with the big windows with light that just pours in and sparkles of the marble floors. I was also thrilled that Kristin decided to get ready in the room at the hotel, Gorgeous!!  I am also very grateful that I was able to be a part of their special day, listening to the toasts at their wedding just confirmed what an amazing couple they are.  I am so happy that this day was as beautiful as it was, I wish them both a happy life together in their new city “CHICAGO”  I know Kenneth will be spending some fun times watching his favorite team, GO CUBBIES! congrats to you both!

Matt & Erika braved the heat for this fun end of July engagement session, I’m looking forward to their upcoming Wedding Day!

July 29, 2011

This session makes my heart smile! I have known Gabriella and Braden’s mom since I was about 4 years old, we grew up together doing gymnastics and playing in our backyards. It’s been a number of years since I’ve seen their family and recently they contacted me to do this session. In searching for a location I decided that their backyard would make the perfect background especially late in the evening when the sun was setting. {this type of session is great for capturing some of the best natural unpredicted moments} I started off taking pictures of Gabriella..the very talented dancer and gymnast (just like her mom) She had no problem posing for the camera on the other hand her little brother Braden was a little less than enthusiastic about getting his picture taken. Sometimes you just can’t force kids to do something they don’t want to do, at least not unless it is on their terms, he did eventually end up coming around:) We sort of had to act like we were just having fun playing around,  at that point he broke out his golf clubs and it was all about him!  This truly has to be one of my favorite sessions of the summer there is something so real about capturing children in their own environment. Hope you enjoy!
